There are some interesting facts about Qatar. In 2009 Qatar was ranked as one of the countries with a highest GDP per capita in the world. According to International Monetary Fund and The World Factbook Qatar is one of the world's richest countries (based on GDP). It is also one of the countries with lowest tax rates in the world. In 2010 Transparency International named Qatar as one of the least corrupted Middle Eastern countries.
Another fact is that Qatar is known for holding international level sporting events such as Asian Games, AFC Asian Cup and WTA Tour Championships in women’s tennis. It is also bidding for holding a World Cup in 2022.

Qatar has a large immigrant population (foreign workers) that comprises 85% of total population which is 1,448,446 million people (according to US State Department).
